Its alllllllmost time to hand in my coursework, put my uni books down and get into some real Christmas spirit! I have spent many hours sat infront of my computer in my pj's typing up  reports that I could not be more excited to put a party frock on and to head out.

Dog Days Are Over

Im going to see Florence and the Machine tonight and I am so excited. Eeeeek!
I am such a massive fan of hers, and not just for her music - booooyyy has she got style! Therefor I thought I would dedicate this blog post to Florence and her wardrobe.

Known for her fiery red locks Florence has built her style around her hair colour. Whether she's on stage, off duty or being pictured on the red carpet, Flo dresses in ecclectic pieces of vintage and designer to create her much coveted luxe-bohemian wardrobe. (She even makes dressing as a bloke look good in her latest video with Calvin Harris).

Her style credentials were proven when Frida Giannini announced that she would become the face of Gucci in 2011. Giannini stated, "I was thinking of a strong and somewhat mysterious muse. Florence is that kind of woman". Not only was Giannini smitten with Flo, but Karl Lagerfeld chose her to close the ready-to-wear spring/summer 2012 collection in Paris. Now thats a compliment if I ever saw one.

Here are my favoutire looks from her so far!

Jumper Love

I’ve always had a slight obsession for knitwear and I usually find myself standing in topshop asking myself "do I reeeaalllyyy need another jumper?!" Maybe this is because I’ve grown up in the North East of Scotland where the winters' are freezing and the summers' disappointing. Speaking of freezing, the snow is now upon us which is making it a little bit harder for me to get out of bed in the mornings! Although not all is miserable – the cold weather gives me a great excuse to buy too many more jumpers and to lair up! Here are some cosy knits that I am lusting over right now…

Oh Milano!

Last week I visited one of the fashion capitals of the world - Milan - to visit my best friend. She is currently studying there for the semester, which gave me a great excuse to visit her and ofcourse the beautiful city! The shopping was amazing and I ate a bit too much pasta for my own good.

The Duomo was by far my most favourite part of Milan (yes I'm a geek!). Here is some random woman and I outside the cathedral.

Country Girl

Hello again!

It's been a pretty busy few weeks at Uni as we have been asked to produce a photoshoot for part of our fashion communication module. We had to source everything ourselves such as the photographer, location, clothing, model and hair and makeup ourselves.
It was a daunting task and the weather couldnt have been colder on the day - hot water bottles, jackets and a hot car were on hand for our freezing model - but we had an absolute blast shooting it!
Here are as few behind the scenes shots:

They tried to make me go to rehab

I absolutely love dressing up so naturally Halloween is one of my favourite times of the year! I decided to take my love for the music legend Amy Winehouse to the next level and dress up as her for Halloween. I've always wanted to try out her massive beehive on myself and I already had everything in my wardrobe to create her look.

I wanted to dress up in her trademark style of skinny jeans, vest top, brightly coloured bra and ballet pumps. (As I had everything already, this made for a very cheap halloween costume!) The only thing I had to buy was her famous tattoos' which I purchased for a mere £1.80 from ebay.

Galaxy Nails

Im loving the massive nail art craze that is going around right now - people are getting so creative with it, and its such a cheap and easy way to brighten up an outfit.
I think WAH-NAILS are the kings of the nail art, with a small salon placed in Topshop Oxford Circus, they can paint pretty much anything you want on your nails. But with a starting price of £20 for a basic manicure with polish, I can hardly afford that on my student budget. :(

So instead I've tried alittle DIY and created the 'galaxy nail' trend on my own fingertips! Im surprised at how easy it was - which is a bonus as I'm a beginner with nail art!

What you need:
Black or navy nail varnish for the base.
Purple and Blue varnish (or any other similar colours which represent the galaxy!)
Clear glitter varnish for the stars.
Tissue and tweezers

  • First up I painted my nails with a black polish and used two coats to ensure it was extra black.
  •
  • After the black dried, I dabbed the purple polish randomly on each nail and used a tissue (held securely by tweezers) and dabbed each nail. I found the more hap hazard I was; the better it looked.

  • I repeated the same process, but this time with blue polish and dabbed it on top of the purple.

  • I waited a couple of minutes for the blue coat to dry before I added the final layer of sparkles. Not only does it look like stars in the galaxy but it doubles up as a top coat to prevent the nail varnish from chipping!
  • And Ta-Daaaa! My very own DIY galaxy nails. :)

Style Crussshhh

One of my current style obsessions right now haaaas to be Nicola Roberts. I first started to take notice of her style a few years back when she ditched the fake tan and embraced her natural ginger!
Often photographed on the front row, she mixes high street, designer and vintage to create her individual style. She isn’t afraid of taking risks by clashing prints and colour with one another.

I also have a soft spot for old Nic because like her, I too am pretty pale! Yet she now proudly embraces her pale skin tone and compliments it by wearing colours which suit her, instead of covering up in fake tan. I feel she doesn’t get enough recognition for her style in which she deserves!

Hello Blog World!

Hello Bloggers!

I am currently studying Fashion Management at Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen. As part of my coursework this semester I have been set the task of setting up my own blog. I love to follow blogs and spend a lot of time trawling through my favourite ones - but the thought of setting my own one up is very daunting - Eek! So please bear with me until I get to grips with using blogspot. D:

I intend to post and discuss my current fashion obsessions, style crushes and recent purchases!
